In understanding Jesus’ parables, we need to pay close attention to the audience he is addressing, and the context in which the story is set. Reread the Parable of the Good Employer (Matthew 20:1–16). Who was Jesus’ audience; in other words, who was Jesus talking to when he told this parable?
