Question 1

Jesus’ life and teachings transform our understanding of forgiveness. In the Parables of Jesus, he depicts people who are forgiven, reconciled, and loved by God. Jesus does this so that we may also see the true character of God and that we may see ourselves as forgiven to forgive, reconciled to reconcile, and loved to love.

Read Matthew 18:21–35 to hear Jesus speak to you in the Parable of
the Unforgiving Servant. Notice that his parable was a response to Peter’s
question. What did the servant ask the king to do? What did the king do?
Why do you think the king was so angry? What words do you hear in the parable that express forgiveness?
